"Right sides together" really means "right sides together." Don't let this happen to you.
I added a zipper (thanks to the tutorial someone here suggested to me) and a magnetic clasp. I found that adding a zipper to my bag was much easier than sewing the zipper for my skirt. You don't even need a zipper foot!

I'll probably make another bag soon, although I can't decide if I want to make a purse or a bigger tote for larger projects. This was a great project!
